circles are round.
you know what we did?
when we were dancing in that shape,
all those men, we were dancing on the inside
and all those women were dancing outside of us
we committed to maintaining healthy relationships
life giving relationships with the life givers
we committed to standing up against violence towards women
and each of those women shook my hand
and the hand of all of my brothers
and they thanked us
they thanked us
for standing up to our responsibilities
the old women who were my grandmothers
the young girls who are still children
friends and colleagues
all these women thanked me
because a broken circle is weak
even a single crack compromises the whole
a single relation
know your circle
you are not alone, people are unable to be alone
find your circle and strengthen your relations
the time has come to be strong
so that we may birth together through health
into living together in whole ways
circles are round.
and you know what we were doing?
we were dancing and smiling.
