If they build those pipes through and over
those southern flowing waters
vancouver would have
4.5 million
litres
last month, april 29th 2011
but instead that oil spills north
flowing away
part of me hopes the pipes get built
through this remaining breadbasket
so that death will speak for itself
floating on the waters nearly dead
named after simon fraser, a man
who vandalized petroglyphs with his name
as if an uncreative graffiti artist
part of me hopes the pipes get built
as eventually that oil will flow those
1000 km's of that mighty water
pulled, shaping this landscape we call home
but what,
will people continue, eating avocados and mangos from the south where the people are hungry
but what,
will the people who live with the salmon and seals, deer and air be left to become toxic?
but what,
where is hope
if not in feeling the pain
of radioactive rain watering the garden
let our thinking, our reasoning, be for maintaining a healthy planet and experience of her.
she has laws, it's the way things work. let's not try to stop the rain, but from polluting this place so much that the rain turns toxic, so the rivers don't need to pull oil to the oceans,
i am scared to hope
