giving and receiving

I've been feeling gratitude recently.
Brambles giving berries, salmon running up streams, gardens bountiful, animals gaining weight for their winter, figs growing heavy on the trees. Friends (Dirk and Nicole) have been so giving in their garden abundance, including this 1/2 yard of soil/organic matter in the cans / trunk.

I'm reminded, and further inspired, to share such beauty as is impossible to repay, for in giving the immesurable we extend an invitation to share life, to be so indebted to another is to include and to be in love.

I'm reminded to receive gifts in simple gratitude. Not to think of repayment, for then a gift becomes an exchange. I had the pleasure of working in their garden with their company. I gave my time as a gift. Each act, for example weeding purslane, was for the act of removing that plant, no further motivation to acquire vegetables in the future, as per this example.

To move from exchanging to giving / receiving, helps me be where I am, experiencing those things, and is a step, somehow, towards freedom.

Did you grow those veggies right in the back of your car?

Ha!
To grow in the trunk is truly a good idea Aaron. nice to hear from you. I did meet some real keeners who we helped fill dirt into their bus and filled it with herbs...we never did hear how the plants liked it!

Hi Dove (?)

yes, this is an 87 jetta, diesel, that will, according to plan, run on used vegetable oil in the near future. We'll see how owning a car goes :)
